Not sure which Mac you have? Apple menu → About This Mac: "Chip" means Apple silicon; "Processor" with Intel means Intel.

Windows

Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit)

Requirements

  • macOS 14.2 (Sonoma) or newer, Apple silicon or Intel
  • Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit
  • Claude Code installed and signed in to your Claude subscription, for the summaries
  • Disk space for the transcription model (about 550 MB), downloaded on first use

Opening it the first time

The installers don't have Apple's and Microsoft's digital signature yet. Because of that, the system asks for confirmation the first time.

macOS

  1. Open the .dmg file and drag Persist Notes into the Applications folder.
  2. In the Applications folder, right-click Persist Notes and choose Open.
  3. If macOS doesn't show the Open button, go to System Settings → Privacy & Security and click Open Anyway.

Windows

  1. Open the installer you downloaded.
  2. If you see "Windows protected your PC", click More info and then Run anyway.

On the first recording, the app asks for access to the microphone and, on macOS, to system audio recording.
